What does "growing organic crops" mean?
It means growing crops without using poisons.
It means nourishing the fields with natural fertilisers.
It means defending the crops without using synthetic chemicals.
It means following the crop rotation principle, alternating different crops on the same patch of land.
Why say "YES" to organic?
Because food quality depends on the "health" of the land.
Because good food improves life.
Because food should be a friend we can trust.
Because this is the only way we can have foods that do not contain toxic residues.
Because the countryside should be somewhere to live - as it used to be. Not somewhere we have to fight using gas masks and other instruments of war.
Why say "NO" to chemicals?
Because the poisons used in the fields then end up in our food, in quite large amounts. All poisons damage life, sooner or later.
Because the poisons sprayed over the fields pollute the environment, the air, the water. They damage everybody, now and in the future.
Because poisons kill the habitat that contains a large number of species and plant varieties that are needed to safeguard biological diversity - our life, in other words.
